To make this day memorable, we have planned a special assembly and activities that will engage and inspire our students.

 

The day will begin with a lively assembly by the teaching staff dedicated to celebrating the uniqueness and potential of every child. Students will then enjoy a fun, age-appropriate movie on the school premises to add to the joy of the day. To make the movie experience extra special, they are welcome to bring their favourite snack, either one of these- a small packet of chips/ cookies/popcorn in small quantity.

The five S’s of sports - stamina, speed, strength, skill, and spirit play an important role in the holistic development of students. It’s time now to showcase the athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship that the students have acquired and motivate them to give their best. We are glad to invite you to the ‘Annual Athletic Meet’ on Saturday, 26th October’24.

Please find enclosed the E-Invite for the event.

 

Please note:

1. All the students will be participating in the drills and races.
2. Practices for the event are underway. Please ensure that your ward attends school regularly.
3. Buses will ply ONLY in the morning on Saturday, 26^th October at the usual timings to pick up the students. The walker students are to be dropped to school at 8:30 am.
4. Breakfast and packed lunch will be provided to students in the school.
5. Parents to be seated in the school ground by 9:15 am. The event will begin at 9:30 am.
6. Students will come dressed in their House Uniform/ Sports Day costume from home as instructed by the class teacher.
7. Parents can pick up their children from their respective classes after the event. No child will be dispersed till the event concludes.

MESSAGE FROM SCHOOL COUNSELLOR

 

Dear Parents,

 

Greetings!  

 

My name is Bhamini Rautela-Pahwa, and I will be advising your wards for their higher education as well as working with them to build their unique profiles. In our one-on-one sessions, I would be helping them to identify and build on their skills and interests  in both academics and extracurriculars.

 

We would do this through activities and projects like online courses, internships, passion projects, community service projects and more. In my experience as a college counsellor, I have seen many students grow personally and professionally when they go beyond the classroom and deeper into personal projects. This would also be a time for them to be curious, experiment and have fun while doing it. I will, of course, be there to guide  them through this exploratory period. 

 

For students of grades 11 and 12, we will focus on researching different college courses and career paths in addition to their profile building. In grades 9 and 10 , I will be focussing more on profile building.

 

To be able to best assist them, I will be meeting students individually every 7-10 days. To kickstart this process, I would like the students to fill out a short Google form. Spend some time thinking about any questions they may have regarding higher education or any interests specifically that they would like to explore.

 PARENT SURVEY ON TEENS, PARENTS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA

 

Dear Parent,

 

In May, a few educators and parents from Ridge Valley had the opportunity to attend a Meta event in Delhi, "Talking Digital Suraksha for Teens". 

 

In this event, the Meta team introduced the audience to the various safety features on their Instagram and Facebook platforms. The parents and teachers in the audience, representing multiple Delhi schools, had the opportunity to discuss social media usage by teens and ways in which parents can stay informed about social media safety features, especially for those who are less familiar with the various social media platforms which teens are using.  

 

We are partnering with the 1M1B Foundation on a parent survey which aims to better understand the concerns from the larger Ridge Valley parent community regarding teens and digital safety. From the survey results, we will be working closely with 1M1B on solutions to increase parental confidence and knowledge about the world of social media. 1M1B will also be working closely with Meta to recommend solutions based on your feedback. 

 

This survey is anonymous. Only the aggregated data will be shared by 1M1B with the school.

 

Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts, priorities, and experiences in keeping your teens safe online. Try to answer as truthfully as possible. If you have more than one student in grades 8-12, please fill the survey more than once.

The students she has mentored have gone onto top educational institutes like Cornell University, London School of Economics, and Ashoka University, to name a few. 

With her wealth of knowledge, she will be instrumental in helping students identify their strengths, explore colleges and universities that align with their interests, and navigate the complex application processes. She will also provide personalized advice on course selections, career planning, and opportunities for further education, ensuring that each student is empowered to pursue their aspirations confidently. This will include identifying internships during breaks, academic exploration through research work, social service projects, and passion projects.

We are excited to inform you that the school is organizing an overnight adventure trip to Camp Abhaneri, Rajasthan, for students of Grades IV and V, scheduled from Saturday, November 16 to Sunday, November 17, 2024. Abhaneri village, famous for its breathtaking stepwell with 11 visible levels of zigzagging steps, offers a remarkable setting for this adventure.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECT IN VRINDAVAN

Dear Parents (Grades IX & XI),

Greetings!

As part of Ridge Valley School's Education for Life initiative, we are offering students of Grades IX and XI the opportunity to participate in a special service project in Vrindavan. During this project, the students will serve the widow mothers supported by the Paramhansa Yogananda Charitable Trust, which provides physical, emotional, and spiritual care to those without family support.

This one-day trip, scheduled for Friday, 27th September 2024, will allow students to directly engage with the widow mothers—whether by sharing sweets and chocolates or simply spending time with them to build a personal connection. One of the most important life lessons is understanding that sharing with others enriches our own experiences, and through this trip, students will have the chance to learn this concept firsthand.

Kindly verify all the details of your ward along with the spellings carefully and sign with blue pen on the LOC Slip that  will be shared with you via your ward’s almanac on Monday September 9^th, 2024.

 

Request you to kindly send the undermentioned documents along with the duly signed LOC on Wednesday, September 11^th, 2024. Please self-attest all the documents that you send. 

 

1.Photocopy of Certificate related to minority, OBC / SC /ST (if applicable)  

2.Photocopy of the Adhaar card of your ward. (attested by the student)

3. Photocopy of the Grade X marksheet. . (Self-attested by student and parent)

4.  Please send the exact amount of the fee mentioned on the slip as registration 

charges in cash in a sealed envelope with the child’s name written clearly. 

 

Some important points to be noted while filling/checking the LOC: 

1. Kindly ensure that the date of birth, spellings of your names and your wards name are the same as in Grade X Marksheet
2. Subject combinations are the same as in Grade XI.

This is to inform you about an exciting opportunity for the students of Grade VI, The 2024 Queensland Future School Leaders Program that fosters leadership and global citizenship.

 

The Queensland Future School Leaders Program aims to support and empower students who are interested in developing leadership skills and aspiring to become future leaders. It will provide an opportunity for participants to collaborate online with peers from across the Asia-Pacific region to collectively address and resolve school-based challenges.

 

There will be 4 Online Sessions of 3 hours each from 12pm- 3pm AEST i.e, 7:30 am – 10:30 am IST as per the schedule given below:-

Session One: Tuesday 15^th October

Session Two: Tuesday 22^nd October

Session Three: Tuesday 29^th October

Session Four: Tuesday 19^th November

 

Note: Sessions One to three are held weekly. Session Four is held after a two-week break to allow time for students to develop their projects and prepare their final presentations.

Please be informed that all students from Grade III - VIII, will be participating in the IBT (International Benchmark Test) Assessment and reporting program developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).

ACER has created a global program of school-level tests in English, Mathematics, Science and Reasoning suitable for students across a range of countries. These high-quality tests enable teachers, parents, and school leaders to get an insight into the educational development of students throughout their years of secondary schooling.

 

The IBT assessment program draws on ACER's many years of experience in educational research. Requiring students to think about topics rather than just recall information, to apply their subject knowledge rather than just remember facts, the IBT is at the forefront of modern educational measurement.

This Academic Year, students will be appearing in only three assessments, English, Science and Mathematics. These assessments will be conducted in the online mode at school.

 

Please send a cheque for Rs. 660 in favour of Ridge Valley School with your child by Wednesday, September 11th, 2024, and ensure that it is submitted to the Class Teacher. Kindly ensure your child's name, class, and section are written on the back of the cheque.

 

For students in the Wellness Department, payment is only required for the subjects they are studying at school. Kindly submit a cheque for Rs. 220 per subject to the respective Class Teacher.

EMERGING LEADERS FORUM (PRIMARY)

 

Dear Parents (Grade V),

 

Greetings!

 

We are excited to share that Ridge Valley has partnered with the Asia Education Foundation and the Victorian Departments of Education to offer four fully funded student engagement forums this year.

 

One of these opportunities is the Emerging Leaders Forum (Primary), specifically designed for Grade 5 students. This forum provides a unique platform for students to connect and collaborate with peers from around the world, focusing on intercultural communication, teamwork, and developing the skills needed to become globally competent leaders.

 

The Emerging Leaders Forums aim to create early curriculum entry points for Victorian schools, helping them integrate global learning and engagement into their educational practices. This program also serves as a pathway for students to participate in the Emerging Leaders Forum - Junior Secondary for Years 7 and 8, and the Global Youth Forum for Year 9 students.

 

Throughout the program, students will take part in a variety of activities and regularly engage in small group breakout sessions with peers from other schools and countries.

Program Structure: There will be three online sessions, each lasting four hours:

• Session One: Wednesday, 11th September (6:30 am - 10:30 am IST)
• Session Two: Monday, 16th September (6:30 am - 10:30 am IST)
• Session Three: Thursday, 19th September (6:30 am - 10:30 am IST)

A briefing session for the selected students will be held on Thursday, 5th September 2024 (7:30 am – 8:15 am IST).

Selection Process: If you would like your child to participate, please send an email confirming their interest to the class teacher.

Interested students will take part in a panel discussion on the topic “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” on Wednesday, 14th August 2024. From this discussion, 10 students will be selected to join the program.

Please note that registration for the Emerging Leaders Forum (Primary) for Grade 5 will close on Friday, 16th August 2024.

National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommends transforming the assessment system to promote the development of students and suggests a shift from testing rote memorisation to competency-based learning.

CBSE’s Structured Assessment for Analysing Learning levels (SAFAL) focusses on testing core concepts, application of knowledge, and higher-order thinking skills. It is neither a competition nor a qualifying/certification exam. The results of this assessment will be used to provide developmental feedback to schools.

The CBSE is conducting SAFAL 2024- 25 in July-August 2024 for all registered CBSE schools in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

As SAFAL is a competency-based assessment, no extra class or specific preparation is needed. It is mandatory for all students to be present on the day of the exam.

The exams will be conducted online (in the ICT lab) as per the schedule shared below.

We are excited to inform you that we have organized an industrial visit for the students of Grades IX and X to the Yakult factory in Sonipat on Tuesday, 30th July 2024, as part of our experiential learning program. This visit aims to give our students valuable insights into the food processing industry.

During the visit, students will have the opportunity to observe the production process of probiotic drinks and learn about the importance of probiotics in our bodies, as well as their historical significance.

Key details of the visit are as follows:

• Departure Time: 7:30 AM (sharp) from the school
• Return Time: 3:00 PM back to the school
• Drop-off Time: Please ensure your ward is dropped off at school by 7:15 AM on Tuesday, 30th July 2024.
• Pick-up: Students can go back home as usual after returning to school.

Dear Parents (Grade VI-XII),

 

Greetings!

 

In order to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, Ridge Valley School has implemented a ‘mobile phone policy’. We request all parents to make a note of the following guidelines:

 

1. Mobile Phone Information: Parents are required to intimate their child's mentor and class teacher if a mobile phone is being carried by the student, clearly stating the reason for carrying the device to school via email or a note in the almanac. This information must be shared a day prior to the student bringing the mobile phone to school.
2. Consequences of Misuse: Any misuse of the mobile phone by the student in the school premises or in the school bus, will result in disciplinary action.
3. The mobile phone brought to school should be solely for emergency purposes only.
4. Headphones and electronic gadgets are also not permitted in the school premises or in the School Bus, unless prior permission has been sought.  

 

Students who have been given permission to carry their phone to school must switch them off and deposit it at the school reception first thing in the morning.

 

Suprise checks will be conducted periodically and if a student is found in possession of a mobile phone, it will be confiscated. The phone will only be returned to the parent during the next PTM. 

 

We request you to share this information with your wards to ensure they are aware of the school rules.

We are thrilled to announce the commencement of our Morning Sports Coaching Program for the selected School Teams from July 2024. The trials for selection of the School Cricket, Football and Basketball teams will be conducted during the Sports CPD periods as per the given schedule.

 

Junior School Team (Grades III-V)- Tuesday, 02.07.2024

Middle School Team (Grades VI-VIII) – Wednesday, 03.07.2024

Senior School Team (Grades IX-XII)- Thursday, 04.07.2024

 

The selection of students will be purely on merit basis and the decision of the coaches will be final. Those interested must ensure that their ward is present on the day of the trial.

 

The timing for the Morning Sports Coaching will be from 7:15 am to 8:15 am. The schedule for different grade levels will be shared after the trials. Please be informed that the Coaching will be free of cost for the selected students, but no transportation will be provided by the school in the morning. Parents will have to drop the kids to school at sharp 07:15 am.

FILM MAKING AND PODCASTING WORKSHOP

Dear Parents,

 

We are excited to announce that our school will be hosting a Digital Storytelling Workshop from 20^th May, which we believe will greatly benefit our students. This workshop is designed by award winning filmmakers and festival directors of FootPrint Film Festival @ The Peninsula Studios. They are a National award winning content creation house founded by accomplished corporate leader Subroto Chattopadhyay and well known actor, producer and director Sita Raina. They curate content (music, theatre, film and ideas), design events & mentor youngsters in the art of content creation.

 

The filmmaking and podcasting workshops are available for Grade VI-VIII only and highly recommended for students who are interested in exploring their creative side and developing valuable skills.

 

The films created during the workshop will also have the opportunity to be showcased at the Footprint Film Festivals, organized in various parts of the country. This is an incredible one-of-a-kind platform for our students to showcase their talents and gain exposure. You may want to watch films made by participants on their YouTube channel. The festival is 4 years old, and they have screened over 400 films made by children from across the globe.

We are excited to announce an adventurous trip to Mussoorie for our Grade VI-VIII students. This trip is designed to provide them with a unique learning experience beyond the confines of a classroom. The trip aims to offer students immersive experiential learning whereby they will be exposed to nature, rural lifestyle and challenging activities. Stepping out of their familiar environment, they will have the opportunity to learn through first-hand experiences, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.

 

Each day at camp is customized to bring out different aspects of a child’s personality and hone their skills. Children will work in groups to explore nature, visit villages to get a taste of rural lifestyle and live independently, becoming self-reliant. Through the days they spend at camp, they transform to become all-rounded personalities, on their way to achieving success.

Arrival at Camp, Briefing & Tent allotment, Evening Snack & Camp Games, Journal Writing, Reflection at Bonfire, Dinner, overnight at camp.
30-05-2024	Morning Tea & Exercise, Breakfast, River Trekking, Lunch, Zip Line, , Evening Snack & Camp Games, Journal Writing, Reflection at Bonfire, Dinner, Overnight at camp.
31-05-2024	Morning Tea & Hang Man, Breakfast, Rappelling, Lunch, Guerrilla Warfare, Evening Snack, Prize Distribution, Music and Dance, Dinner.
