“The ultimate measure of a quiz is not winning but learning.” To promote an engaging and experiential way of learning, Mayor World School organised an electrifying Inter-House Mathematics Quiz Competition for Grades VI-VIII on 22nd January 2025.The competition endeavoured to scrutinise students’ comprehension of mathematical equations and their proficiency in extrapolating theoretical knowledge to pragmatic, real-world scenarios. The quiz embarked on a thrilling six-round odyssey, commencing with Everyday Mathematics to assess fundamental problem-solving prowess. The subsequent phases like the Maths Master and the Mind Maze assessed reasoning and mental ability. The Brain Bender and the Lightening Flash sections presented a more in-depth analytical challenge. The Sight and Sound segment injected a rapid-fire element. The Flash Fire finale concluded the quiz with a high-stakes, fast-paced challenge, demanding swift and accurate responses. Throughout the competition, each round delivered distinct excitement, rendering the contest a dynamic and captivating experience for participants and spectators alike. The Audience round added an extra layer of exhilaration, proving to be the pinnacle of the event. This interactive session enthralled and engaged the young audience, fostering an immersive experience. The competition came to a thrilling conclusion with the announcement of results, based on aggregate scores from all rounds. Shakespeare House comprising Viraaj Talwar ( VIII-B), Aarush Bansal ( VIII-B), Shlomit Nagpal (VII-C) and Ananya Bhardwaj( VI-A), emerged triumphant, delivering an outstanding performance. Dickens House secured the second position, falling just short of the top -spot. The ceremony was dignified by the esteemed presence of the Principal, Ms. Divya Keni and the Vice Principal, Ms. Charu Trehan. They encouraged the students to assimilate mathematical concepts into their daily existence, hone their problem-solving prowess, and pursue excellence with unwavering perseverance and unrelenting passion. The School Management extended effusive congratulations to all participants and winners, acknowledging their remarkable efforts and accomplishments. Mr. Narottam Vir Sharma, the Convener and Head, Department of Mathematics along with Ms.Aashima Sama, the Deputy Head of the Department , were also commended for their tireless endeavours. The exemplary organisation, dedication, and commitment of the Department of Mathematics were instrumental in ensuring the event’s resounding success.
