In consonance with the recent directives issued by the Supreme Court regarding road safety and traffic regulations, the Education Traffic Cell successfully convened an enlightening seminar for the School Transport Department and the students of Grades VIII, IX and XI at Mayor World School, Jalandhar on 23rd December 2024. It aimed to augment awareness about traffic rules and promote responsible driving habits among young students. The seminar, led by Sub Inspector Mr. Ranjit Singh and Assistant Sub Inspector Mr. Shamsher Singh, provided students aged 15 to 17 with crucial information about operating vehicles with engine capacities up to 50 cc. The session emphasised the importance of adhering to safety standards and legal requirements, thereby fostering a culture of responsible driving. It covered a multitude of essential traffic rules, including pedestrian safety, the importance of wearing helmets, adhering to speed limits, and understanding road signs. The students engaged in interactive discussions, which helped solidify their understanding of these critical regulations. During the seminar, drivers and conductors were reminded of their fiduciary responsibilities to prioritise student safety. Guidelines on maintaining up-to-date vehicle documents were thoroughly discussed, ensuring that all attendees comprehended the significance of compliance for their own safety and that of their student passengers. The School Management stated that by equipping students with the knowledge to navigate roads safely, we aim to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents and ensure a safer environment for all road users. The School looks forward to conducting similar initiatives in the future, thereby promoting a culture of road safety and responsible driving among its students.
